Senate Judiciary Committee Heard Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act

The Republican legislators push for legislation that covers babies who survive attempts at abortion. The Committee on Justice of the Senate dealt with the Born-Alive Abortion Protection Act on Tuesday. Physicians should provide these children with medical care.

The Roe v. Wade reversal is not discussed at this listening. The hearing is not really about restricting access to abortion at all. This hearing is not a discussion on third-trimester, second-trimester, or first-trimester abortion. The conference is about ensuring that every newborn baby has a fair chance — whether born in an obstetrics unit or born in an abortion clinic.

According to the federal family focus, all the children who are born at any stage of development are “persons.” However, there are no legal requirements to offer medical care to babies who are living battling after an abortion procedure fails. Sasse re-introduced the bill to the Senate last year after Virginia Governor Ralph Northam voiced his opinion in a radio interview that a child born alive during an attempted abortion would not automatically be eligible for immediate treatment.

As reported by CBN News the last year, the New York legislature passed the so-called ‘Reproductive Health Act,’ and Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) signed the law to protect the child born alive during an attempted abortion, amongst other provisions. New York’s legislation previously stipulated that a second health care provider must be present for a child of 20 weeks or older born alive while performing the abortion.

Supporters of abortion called the bill to hurt women’s rights, but rivals of abortion have said that all babies are equal. There should not be any discrimination against a boy or girl child. If the reason for abortion is gender, then the violation policy will come under assurance for punishment.

Fatima Goss Graves from National Women’s Law Center said, “Choice to reproductive health, including abortion, is a critical component of equality, equal rights and financial protection for everyone. Pro-life advocates, however, wondered why certain democrats encouraged infanticide-equivalent procedure.

Democrats actively resist this amendment for pro-abortion and explain the reason for enabling it. It is why they have committed to allowing for infanticide for the abortion procedure. Born individuals are referred to as health-care waste due to lethal violence against them,” said Jennifer Popik, National Right to Life Legislative Director.

Dr. Robin Pierucci, Clinical Neonatologist and medical director of NICU, said that we have to treat all the babies who are born alive as our patients. All medical staff should be able to provide direct medical treatment or precautionary care.”

At the hearing, most Democrats said that the measure was superfluous or needless.

Last year Sen. Patty Murray (D- Wash) said in the Senate, when she denied Sasse’s proposal for unanimous consent to the law, “We have regulations to prevent infanticide in this country.” It is a severe misunderstanding, and what I object to, of the exact language of the debated bill,” the National Review says. While opponents contend that children never survive abortion attempts, there are reports that some do. Many abortion survivors also featured in a new TV ad.
